Maureen Monahan, PhD

Clinical Psychologist

I am a clinical psychologist, licensed in both New York and New Jersey, with experience providing evidence-based psychotherapies for a range of mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, and trauma related disorders. My training background is in cognitive-behaviorally oriented therapies, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Exposure plus Response Prevention (ERP). I also integrate mindfulness, alliance-building, and acceptance-based techniques.

Recognizing the uniqueness of each client, I take a personalized approach to therapy, tailoring interventions to best address your individual needs. I believe in creating a strong therapeutic relationship where we can work together to determine the best way to achieve your goals.

Beyond my private practice, I serve as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medical Psychology in Psychiatry at Columbia University. My academic pursuits have led to publication of numerous articles and book chapters in addition to presentations at international conferences on a range of mental health topics.

I am passionate about contributing to the field of psychology, and my roles as both clinician and researcher allow me to bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to therapy. Whether you're seeking support for anxiety, depression, or navigating life transitions, I am here to guide you with empathy and expertise.
